Focus is a choice. Make today count.
Ready when you are.
Editing pauses the timer and starts the new duration from the beginning.

Add a background image to this note. Blur and dim keep your text readable. Stored locally and included in .sutra backups. A locked page never shows its background behind the PIN screen.

Sutra Assistant panel behaviour and suggestions.
Long-term memory lets Sutra Assistant remember stable facts you ask it to keep (study habits, goals, preferences) to personalize help across sessions. It is consent-first and local: it never saves passwords, keys, financial, medical, precise-location, or locked-note content, and it travels inside encrypted .sutra backups. Manage, edit, or forget anything anytime.
Assistant chats are saved locally in this browser so you can reopen them later. They are included in encrypted .sutra backups by default. API keys, hidden prompts, and provider-internal reasoning are never included.
Sutra Assistant uses these when it plans your day/week, builds study/exam plans, and breaks down assignments. They travel with your backups.
Optional power-user path. Point Sutra Assistant at an OpenAI-compatible local server (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp). Requests stay on your device — nothing leaves the browser. Then choose "Local endpoint" as the provider inside the Sutra Assistant panel.
Paste a key for each provider you want to use. Keys are session-only by default. You can opt to remember them encrypted on this device; they are never exported or included in Drive sync snapshots. Assistant requests send the key only to the provider you selected.

Launcher toggles for quick-launch services. These apply immediately.
Integrations are optional. Sutra works without them. Connect only the services you want to use. You can add or remove integrations later in Settings.
Paste or upload text-like documents, review structured suggestions, and apply only approved items. AI output never writes directly into your workspace.
Set up a workspace in one step — notes, courses, review decks, timeline blocks, and tasks for a goal (AP, college apps, SAT/ACT, projects, and more). Local only, preview before applying, and undoable.
Control which deadlines, events, and alerts surface in the notification center.
Scale and comfort controls for inclusive use.
Sutra stores your workspace locally. Use password-encrypted .sutra backups to move it cleanly to another device (older unencrypted .sutra and .atelier backups still import).
Require a device-local 4–8 digit PIN after every refresh and after inactivity. This hides the interface from casual access; it does not encrypt IndexedDB or replace encrypted backups.
Unencrypted .sutra is an optional compatibility export. It is readable by anyone who gets the file; Sutra asks for confirmation before creating it. Use the encrypted backup for normal protection.
Interactive restores first offer an encrypted .sutra safety snapshot; browser downloads must be confirmed by you, while backup-folder writes are verified by Sutra. The local recovery journal remains the always-on fallback. Advanced JSON exports are unencrypted.
Keep this workspace synchronized across devices with end-to-end-encrypted incremental changes. Local saving continues if sync is offline. Sync is not a backup: keep encrypted .sutra recovery copies too.
Off by default. Sutra stays local-first; when you connect Google Drive, snapshots are encrypted in this browser before upload to your Drive app-data folder. Sutra cannot recover a forgotten sync password.
When on, the encryption key (never the password) is kept in this browser so Sutra can sync automatically on open, on focus, and every few minutes — no unlock prompt. Turn off on shared computers.
Sutra syncs while this app is open, online, unlocked, and authorized. Disconnecting Drive does not delete local workspace data. Manual encrypted .sutra backups are still recommended.
Sutra autosaves your workspace inside this browser. You can optionally choose a local folder for portable .sutra backups and exported files. Folder access is granted by your browser and may need to be renewed later. IndexedDB autosave stays your primary save location.
Keep Sutra student-focused by default; turn on a pack only when it helps.
Your Student Setup keeps Today, Capture, Homework, Notes, Timeline, Review & Tests, Focus, and Settings easy to reach. Packs add deeper tools. Hiding a pack never deletes its data; re-enable it anytime.
Academic Pack extras (Course Hub and All Due) live in Layout. Customization Pack (themes, CSS, and optional local plugins) lives in Customization.
New temporary pages currently expire after 24 hours.
Import .ics files from any calendar app to bring events into your timeline.
Onboarding walks you through Welcome, Focus, Setup, AI & Backups, and Tour. The guided tour highlights Daily Thread, Deadline Radar, Sutra Modes, and .sutra backup/restore.
.sutra-plugin bundles that extend Sutra with commands, templates, and optional sandboxed code. Off by default — for developers and advanced testing only. Not a normal feature.
Plugins are local bundles only (no marketplace). Runtime code runs in a locked-down sandbox behind an explicit permission allowlist, installs disabled, and must be reviewed before it runs. Restored-from-backup plugins come back disabled and require re-review. Safe Mode skips all plugins.
Style Sutra with your own CSS. Snippets only change how the app looks — they never run code. Safe Mode recovers you without deleting anything.

Sutra is a local-first, privacy-focused app. We do not run model servers. Your requests are sent directly from your browser to your selected AI provider.
Get a key (free or paid):
New here? Groq or Gemini are free and take about two minutes: create an account, open the provider's API-keys page, create a key, then paste it in Settings ▸ Assistant and pick a Model ID. Full step-by-step for every provider is in the in-app Sutra Assistant guide.
API keys are session-only by default. If you choose “Remember on this device,” Sutra stores them encrypted in this browser’s private credential vault; they are never uploaded, exported, or synced.
